Dear Mr. Pico-Lacomba,
My name is Jason Shontz and I am a doctoral candidate at Sullivan University in Louisville, KY. For my dissertation I am investigating occupational stress within the project management profession to determine the effect that it has on both the job satisfaction and turnover intention of project managers working within the United States.
As you are likely very aware, project management can be quite stressful and research shows that there are many negative side effects associated with prolonged exposure to occupational stress. My goal is to obtain a better understanding of the sources of stress within our shared profession so that interventions can be developed to improve the quality of work life for project managers.
I am writing to ask for your help and to see if you would be willing to share the survey link below with your chapter members and/or project management colleagues. The survey is estimated to take about 15 minutes to complete and asks questions about the types of projects managed by the individual, working conditions and job activities, and about the participant’s level of job satisfaction.

All responses will be kept confidential, and participants will have the ability to provide their email address if they are interested in receiving a copy of my final research report and/or an individualized analysis of their own occupational stress level. The study has been approved through my university’s Institutional Review Board, and I would be happy to answer any questions you or your members might have about my research.
I sincerely appreciate your consideration of this request. Having worked as a project manager for many years I have experienced many stressful projects and am hoping this study will shine some light on the unique pressures faced by those in our profession.
Sincerely,
Jason L. Shontz, MBA, PMP, PMI-ACP, ASQ CMQ-OE
